Position Description:

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance and control systems to ensure that products and processes meet internal and external requirements. This role oversees quality-related activities across all aspects of the manufacturing operations, from raw materials to final product shipment, and ensures compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on quality leader who is passionate about executing and communicating best practices, benchmarking against industry leaders, and actively driving quality excellence throughout the organization.

Quality Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the plant’s quality strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, Standards, or other applicable standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • CWB Certified weld Inspector
  • Conduct regular benchmarking exercises to assess and adapt successful practices from industry-leading organizations and share data along with competitive insights to drive innovation and performance.
  • Provide regular quality updates to the company during plant meetings to ensure transparency, engagement, and alignment across departments

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry regulations, and internal quality standards.
  • Develop and enforce quality assurance policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Manage internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
  • Maintain proper documentation and control of quality records.
  • Quality Control & Inspection
  • Oversee incoming material inspection, in-process checks, and final product inspection to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Approve and maintain inspection procedures and sampling plans.
  • Monitor and report on product nonconformances, and oversee disposition and corrective actions.
  • Maintain all Quality control equipment and all Calibration of Equipment.

Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using tools such as 8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, and 5 Whys.
  • Implement and sustain Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Drive reductions in scrap, rework, and warranty claims by identifying gaps and implementing lessons learned from previously completed projects.
  • Explore how peer organizations solve similar challenges and translate those insights into actionable improvements.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Inspectors.
  • Provide training in quality tools, systems, and best practices.
  • Foster collaboration with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to improve product quality and manufacturability.
  • Lead internal workshops and exercises to reflect on how “best-in-class” organizations operate-and how the team can raise its own standard

Supplier Quality Management

  • Develop and manage supplier quality programs, including qualification, audits, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead investigations into supplier nonconformances and drive corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and reflect supplier benchmarking efforts.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Define and monitor quality KPIs, including First Pass Yield, Defect Rates, and Customer Returns.
  • Analyze trends and quality metrics to drive data-based decision-making.
  • Report quality performance to leadership and recommend improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Proven ability to benchmark against high-performing organizations, execute and communicate quality best practices, and lead improvement exercises that challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to travel to client locations, manufacturing plants, or construction sites.
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel without restrictions is required.
  • Carry a class “G” or higher drivers license with the ability to provide a Valid clear driver’s abstract within thirty (30) days of hire date.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in regulated industries.
  • Proficiency with customer-specific requirements (e.g., PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA).
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive quality management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and quality modules is an asset.
