Stamping is the process of placing flat sheet metal in either blank or coil form into a stamping press where a tool and die surface form the metal into a set shape. In the automotive manufacturing industry, the process is carried out on sheet metal but can also be used in other industries and on other materials, such as polystyrene.
Handling Specialty has supplied custom lifts for blank stamping lines since 1963. Large-scale stamping lines are traditionally used in the manufacture of automotive parts. Blank Destacking lifts can be designed with ball screw, hydraulic or electro-mechanical scissor lifts and are used at the beginning of a metal stamping line, loaded with a stack of blanks, and then raised incrementally as the metal blanks are removed (or fed) into the stamping process. The lifts intelligently tie into the facility’s robotic controls so the pick and place interface is working transparently to ensure the stamping press never runs out of blanks.
Certain systems can be designed to allow one cart to work at indexing the blanks precisely while the other is reloading more blanks. When the last blank is removed from the indexing cart, the system shuttles over, and feeding operations can continue uninterrupted.
Major automotive manufacturers throughout North America have come to Handling Specialty for their blank Destacking lifts because of their robust designs, trusted manufacturing practices and quality installations and support. Because of these benefits, Handling has experienced multiple repeat business from the automotive manufacturing sector.
In addition to Destacking lifts, Handling supplies large-scale custom Mast-style Belt lifts to the automotive industry to transfer chassis and pallets vertically in an automated assembly line. This equipment is also referred to as a Vertical Drop lifter. Equipped with precise positioning devices, the vertical drop lift is a very effective product to conveniently raise and lower material in factories where it needs to move from one level to another, transporting unit loads between two levels with speed and care.
Handling Specialty vertical drop lifts are custom designed for virtually any size load to meet each customer’s specific application needs with backup anti-collapse safety systems.
