There’s an easy answer to this question. Wellness is an important aspect of active leadership. Handling Specialty understands this. We also understand that the world of custom design/manufacturing/service is ripe with deadlines, critical thinking and problem-solving, and as more is taken on, supposed stressors can affect the way a person sees themself, their abilities, and the issues at hand. But as we like to say, stress arises from the reaction to a situation, not the situation itself, and so we try to educate employees on how to react to perceived challenges, maintain mental wellness, and overcome obstacles on the job and in life.
Through participation and education, the Handling Specialty team is given multiple opportunities and sources to raise awareness of wellness and take action to better their mental and physical status. Through an employee wellness portal on the Handling Specialty website, employees can access information and services from their home devices in complete anonymity. On the flip side, a Wellness Committee has been established and is available within the HSML facilities to listen to a fellow employee in private. All are urged to approach our committee or use the online tools available to assist before feeling overwhelmed.
Events and reminders to encourage wellness will be held throughout the year.
