Split Rail Systems

Overview

Split Rail Systems are used for the exchange of individual rail vehicle wheelsets from their trucks/bogies.

Freight car wheel sets can easily be exchanged due to their simple removal process from their truck.

Removal of wheelsets from transit and LRT vehicles depends on the complexity of the removal process per the transit vehicle’s manufacturer’s design. Therefore, customizing your split rail equipment is an important step to efficient design. Split rail systems require a raised rail track section for the removal procedure.

Our battery-powered lifting carts (hydraulic or screw lift) travel between the raised rails to pre-set multiple rail opening areas along the track for precise positioning every time.
Split Rail Systems

Currently, there are four main designs of our past systems:

  1. Rails manually removed at multiple track locations, Powered Cart lowers and rotates wheelset.
  2. Rails automatically lower at multiple track locations, and the Powered Cart lowers and rotates the wheelset.
  3. Rails manually swung open at single track location, Powered Cart lowers wheelset and cart traverses.
  4. Rails manually swung open at multiple track locations, and the Powered Cart lowers the wheelset.

We can design a system for your application based on your facility layout.
