Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review customer RFP’s, drawings, control documentation and other applicable specifications
  • Interact with the customer for the purpose of defining scope and obtaining specifications pertinent to the project.   Clarifying questions, they may have with the proposal in conjunction with sales staff.
  • Interact with suppliers and investigate new technologies
  • Generate new hydraulic schematics.  Review and update historical designs.
  • Design of hydraulic power units including the selection of hydraulic components and the fabrication design of hydraulic power units
  • BOM creation, creation of O&M manuals and documentation required by the project
  • Support engineering and manufacturing to ensure the intended scope is followed
  • Support manufacturing during system commissioning and testing with the ability to review and resolve technical design issues
  • Remote troubleshooting and support of commissioning and service inquiries for hydraulic systems
  • There may be occasions when home, remote work is required.  A home office with computer and stable, unlimited, highspeed internet connection.
  • Capable of working at home undistracted and unsupervised

 

Preferrred Skills:

    1. Mechanical
    • Solid Modeling skills (SolidWorks) preferred, AutoCAD 2D skills
    • Expert use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills, sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical documents
    • Ability to write presentations and reports
    • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

     

    1. Electrical
    • SolidWorks Electrical preferred, AutoCAD 2D skills
    • Programming experience with Rockwell PLC and HMI platforms
    • Programming experience with Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
    • Expert use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills, sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical documents
    • Ability to write presentations and reports
    • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

     

    1. Hydraulic Technician
    • Skills essential for building, maintaining and commissioning hydraulic systems effectively.
    • Proficient in using hand tools for maintenance and fabrication of hydraulic systems
    • Knowledge of pumps, cylinders and plumbing.
    • Skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems
    • Understanding and adhering to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
    • Willingness to travel for installations or service. Up to 25% travel both international and domestic.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical
    • Certified Fluid Power Specials or equivalent certifications
    • Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) considered an asset but not required
    • Minimum Seven (7) years experience as Senior designer of custom made-to-order hydraulic systems
    • A relevant complementary skill in a mechanical design, applications estimating, electrical design or manufacturing hydraulic technician. 
    • Out of the box thinker with the ability to develop cost effective solutions and resolve complex issues

Working Conditions

  • Position is full time at both HSML Grimsby & Hamilton plants based on location of project builds
  • Travel to job sites as required by project to support installation activities
